Known as the “Scruffy City,” Knoxville is home to a variety of unique bookstores making it a fun visit for book lovers of all genres. Thanks to the Knoxville History Project’s “Knoxville: A Walking Literary Guide,” readers can explore the city’s literary roots and learn more about authors and books with local ties, including Cormac McCarthy and his iconic Knoxville-based novel, “Suttree.”

This charming shop in Knoxville’s Old City specializes in rare, vintage, and secondhand books. With cozy leather chairs and a coffee/tea bar, it’s the kind of place where you’ll want to linger. They also host events and offer their beautiful space for private rentals. Originally a mobile bookstore, this new brick-and-mortar shop fully embraces all things pink, girly, and bookish with a special love for romance novels. Located southwest of downtown Knoxville, it’s just a short drive from scenic riverfront parks and local cafés, making it the perfect spot to pick up a new or used swoony read.
